
According to Buckingham Palace, Queen Elizabeth II has passed away, causing an uproar of sadness in Britain for the 96-year-old monarch who ruled for 70 years.
In the Scottish Highlands, at her cherished vacation home, Balmoral Castle, she passed away. Many of her four children, eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren, including her son Prince Charles, the heir to the throne, were at Balmoral or en route there.

The news was confirmed by Buckingham Palace’s official Twitter page. They wrote in quote, “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
