According to NASA, this magnificent phenomenon is known as ‘opposition,’ and it occurs when an astronomical object and the Sun are on opposite sides of the Earth. Notably, Jupiter shines brightly in the sky every 13 months due to opposition; however, the oval-shaped orbits of both Earth and the gas giant make the opposition this year particularly remarkable.
