MediaTek regularly unveils a new flagship smartphone chipset each year, and the forthcoming Dimensity 9300 is anticipated to make its debut soon. This upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 9300 is expected to serve as an upgrade to the Dimensity 9200 SoC, which currently powers smartphones like the Oppo Find N3 Flip and the Vivo X90 series. Although the Taiwanese semiconductor company has yet to officially disclose the specifics of this new chip, preliminary details about the Dimensity 9300’s specifications have surfaced online. It is reported to feature a 1+3+4 architecture and is claimed to be 10 percent faster than Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.
The forthcoming MediaTek Dimensity 9300 is rumored to incorporate four Cortex-X4 cores and four Cortex-A720 cores. According to information from tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the clock speeds of these cores have been suggested. The new smartphone chip is expected to include a primary CPU core with a maximum clock speed of 3.25GHz, three cores operating at 2.85GHz, and four cores capped at 2.0GHz.
MediaTek is likely positioning the Dimensity 9300 as a direct competitor to Qualcomm’s yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. Reports suggest that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC will feature a primary CPU core with a maximum clock speed of 3.19GHz, five cores operating at 2.96GHz, and two cores capped at 2.27GHz. Based on the CPU clock speeds, the tipster asserts that the Dimensity 9300 will be 10 percent faster than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9300 is also expected to deliver enhancements in both efficiency and performance compared to the Dimensity 9200 SoC. The latter is compatible with LPDDR5x memory, UFS 4.0 storage, and includes an Arm Cortex-X3 core clocked at 3.05GHz, three Arm Cortex-A715 cores operating at 2.85GHz, and four Arm Cortex-A510 cores at 1.8GHz. These CPU cores are manufactured using TSMC’s second-generation 4nm process.
Devices such as the Oppo Find X6, Oppo Find N3 Flip, and Vivo X90 series are currently powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9200 SoC. Additionally, the upcoming Vivo X100 Pro+ is expected to run on the Dimensity 9300 SoC.
