The Huawei Mate X5 was discreetly introduced in China last Friday. Although the company hasn’t disclosed the specifics of the processor, this phone boasts a 7.85-inch LTPO OLED internal screen and a 6.4-inch OLED LTPO external display. It is available in five different colors and offers two storage options. The pricing details for this device have not been revealed yet. This model follows the Huawei Mate X3, which was launched in China in March and featured an octa-core Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.
The recently unveiled phone is offered in Feather Sand White, Feather Sand Black, Feather Sand Gold, Aoyama Dai (Green), and Phantom Purple (translated from Chinese). Both the 12GB + 512GB and 16GB + 512GB versions are currently available for pre-order with a deposit of CNY 1,000 (approximately Rs. 11,300). Additionally, there are Collector’s Edition options with 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB storage capacities.
Regarding the specifications and features of the Huawei Mate X5, it features a 7.85-inch LTPO OLED internal display with a resolution of 2496 x 2224 pixels, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and an aspect ratio of 8:7.1. The external cover display is a 6.4-inch OLED LTPO panel with a resolution of 2504 x 1080 pixels, a touch sampling rate of up to 300Hz, a 20.9:9 aspect ratio, and is equipped with Kunlun glass protection.
Huawei’s latest foldable device adopts a book-style design and offers a maximum of 16GB of RAM and 1TB of built-in storage. Similar to the recently released Huawei Mate 60 and Mate 60 Pro models, the Huawei Mate X5 runs on Harmony OS 4.0.
In terms of camera capabilities, the Huawei Mate X5 features a triple rear camera arrangement, comprising a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 13-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide lens, and a 12-megapixel sensor equipped with a periscope telephoto lens that supports optical image stabilization (OIS). The front camera is equipped with an 8-megapixel sensor.
Powering the Huawei Mate X5 is a 5,060mAh battery that supports rapid charging at 66W through wired connections and 50W through wireless charging. For security purposes, this dual nano SIM-compatible phone includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It also offers connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C. Additionally, it boasts an IPX8 rating for splash resistance.
The Huawei Mate X5 weighs 245 grammes and has the following dimensions when folded and unfolded: 156.9mm x 72.4mm x 11.08mm and 156.9mm x 141.5mm x 5.3mm.
