The Apple Watch Ultra 3 may not launch next year; development has not even begun: Kuo Ming-Chi

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 will probably not be ready by 2024 if development on the device didn’t begin by December, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Apple is getting ready to announce new MacBook Pro and iMac models at its “Scary Fast” event at the end of the month. Next year, the Cupertino, California-based corporation is allegedly working on updating its array of iPads and AirPods. However, it can take some time before the next Apple Watch Ultra model is released. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 may not release in 2024, claims Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Along with the most recent iPhone 15 series, Apple unveiled the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2 at its September “Wonderlust” event. According to TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, development on the Apple Watch Ultra 3 has not started, despite the release of the company’s flagship smartwatch’s second iteration. Kuo asserted in a Medium blog post that Apple has not yet formally begun work on the Apple Watch Ultra 3—an unusual stance given the company’s timeline for product development.Kuo stated that it would virtually guarantee that Apple will not release its next Ultra smartwatch in 2024 if the company did not start development on the Apple Watch Ultra 3 by December. “I believe Apple hasn’t formally started working on the Apple Watch Ultra 3 project because it needs more time to create cutting-edge health management features, make sure the new features can be manufactured, and deal with production-related issues with Micro LEDs,” Kuo wrote in his post.

If a new model isn’t released in the upcoming year, the analyst also offered sales projections for the Apple Watch Ultra. According to Kuo’s prediction, shipments of Apple Watches overall may decrease by 10% to approximately 35 million units in 2024, while shipments of the high-end model are predicted to decrease by 20–30% annually.

Apple’s hands are filled with a conveyor belt of items ready to reach the market in 2024, even though a new Ultra model for the Apple Watch might not arrive in that year. In his Power On email earlier this week, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman revealed that Apple intends to release new iPad models sometime in March 2024. It has been rumoured that the business is working on updates for the iPad Air, iPad mini, and entry-level iPad.

Again a larger Pro version of the iMac with a 32-inch display will be available in late 2024 or early 2025, even though the iPhone maker will probably announce a revamped 24-inch iMac at its forthcoming presentation this month.

Additionally, it has been stated that the business intends to completely revamp its wildly popular AirPods range. According to Gurman, Apple was preparing two new fourth-generation AirPods as well as a new iteration of the premium $549 (about Rs. 59,900 in India) AirPods Max headphones for release the following year. Additionally, a redesigned design, USB Type-C charging, and major audio quality improvements are planned for the entire AirPods family.

Also, Apple released watchOS 10.1 on Wednesday, adding the double tap functionality to its most recent smartwatches. Users of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 may now respond to messages, answer calls, and carry out a number of other tasks by just tapping their index and thumb together twice after installing the update.
