A Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC that has not yet been released is anticipated to power the Xiaomi 14 series.
Xiaomi has officially confirmed the launch of the Xiaomi 14 series, which is scheduled for next week. This announcement was made through a Weibo post on Monday, October 23. In addition to the new smartphones, Xiaomi is also set to introduce its upcoming operating system with this lineup. While the company has specifically mentioned the Xiaomi 14 series, it’s safe to assume that this will include the standard Xiaomi 14 and the Xiaomi 14 Pro, serving as successors to the previous Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro models. These forthcoming flagship phones are expected to feature rear camera systems that have been fine-tuned in collaboration with Leica. Furthermore, the Xiaomi 14 series is anticipated to be powered by an as-yet-unannounced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.
The Xiaomi 14 series will be officially unveiled on October 26, with the launch event commencing at 19:00 pm in China (which corresponds to 4:30 pm IST), as indicated by a teaser poster shared by the company on Weibo. This new lineup will come with the HyperOS, a fresh operating system, and a camera system developed in partnership with Leica.
It’s noteworthy that Xiaomi’s 14 series will be the first set of phones to operate using the HyperOS operating system, and it’s expected to gradually replace the MIUI. The Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are poised to make their debut as successors to last year’s Xiaomi 13 series.
According to previous leaks, the regular Xiaomi 14 will sport a 6.44-inch Huaxing C8 OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, the Pro model may feature a 6.6-inch flat AMOLED 2.5D display with a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Both models are reported to run on Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, with Qualcomm expected to announce this next-generation flagship chipset at the Snapdragon Summit happening this week.
As for the camera setup, the Xiaomi 14 series is said to include a triple rear camera system, highlighted by a 50-megapixel OV50H primary camera equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS). The Xiaomi 14 is expected to pack a 4,600mAh battery with support for 90W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 14 Pro is rumored to feature a 4,860mAh battery, along with support for 120W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
